Buying a golf cart can be of considerable expense, especially in today’s economy. You can save yourself a nice chunk of change by buying a used electric golf cart. The used golf cart market is huge and vibrant because private golf courses and country clubs are constantly giving it injections of used carts as they purchase new ones. This means that you have a large variation of choices as far as age, size and options.
There are two types of used carts to consider. The ‘as is’ market and the refurbished market. The as is market will cost you less but you will get no warranty, the refurbished market will give you a machine that has been checked over and had worn parts replaced and in all likelihood comes with a warranty of some kind.
Your aptitude with electric golf carts will play a big part in which market you choose. You will want to be able to check an ‘as is’ cart over and make sure there is nothing major wrong, if there is something wrong, you will want to be able to recognize it, and know how much to subtract from your purchase price in order to cover it. With a refurbished electric cart, this won’t be the case, but you will need to understand your warranty completely and know exactly what it covers and doesn’t cover.
