A few years ago you had to go to the golf course to ride in a golf cart. It was the only option to experience that mode of transportation. Today, however you see golf carts on the streets. People and their friends and families seem to be cruising around our neighborhoods in golf carts. These carts are not the same carts that the golfer uses when he rents a cart at the golf course. There is a difference.
Golf carts that are legal for the street are called Neighborhood Electric Vehicles or NEVs. Today, they are quite popular – even more popular than manufacturers anticipated. The main difference between the NEV and a golf cart is that it seats 4 people. Additionally, the NEV is a little bit faster and safer because it is made for the road, not the golf course. And, because the NEV is aloud to run on streets, there are certain laws that it has to abide by.
The NEV is a great vehicle for more than just golfing. Families use them to cut transportation costs. They also work great for people who live retirement communities. And, if your family likes to camp, a NEV is a great vehicle to have.
