What You Need To Know Before You Upgrade Your Windshield

golf cart windshieldA windshield has many purposes on a golf cart, not the least of which is protecting the occupants from wayward flying golf balls. With this in mind, the material it is manufactured from is of great importance. Different products have different ratings, polycarbonate being the strongest able to withstand a point hit of 220 mph.

The design is another consideration as you have the choice of one solid piece or two pieces with one piece being able to fold down. You also have a choice of tint color for the windshield, either clear or lightly tinted with a rainbow of different available colors.

Mounting and compatibility with your cart are the most important issues as if you get the wrong mounting hardware or you get a windshield that won’t mate to your cart in all facets, you’ll be wasting time and possibly ending up with a part you can’t return. Make sure you know and understand the mounting system present on your cart, know your dimensions and attachment to the roof. Manufacturers design their tops differently so you need to make sure the top you get is compatible with the manufacturer’s design. If you purchase a portable top, it attaches by bungee cords and this won’t be an issue, but it also has a much shorter life span than an installed windshield.
