If you are looking into buying a golf cart, you have probably noticed all the different names people call them; carts, buggies, cars. They are all different names referring to the same little 4-wheeled motorized carts. Some have tops to shade from the sun, some run on gas while others are electric, some even go off-road.
People use golf carts for more than just golf. The stronger ones that can go off-road are used by hunters and for other outdoor activities. Some are street legal and can get you around on streets with low speed limits, you may also see these called “neighborhood electric vehicles” or NEVs. Each city and state has rules about what makes a golf cart legal, so be sure you can drive your cart on the street in your town.
With all the accessories and upgrades now available, the standard golf cart looks different than 15 years ago. If you are in the market for a used golf cart, make sure that whatever upgrades were done still allow you to use the cart for your needs. Just because its looks cool lifted with nerf bars, doesn’t mean the course will allow you to drive over their turf with those cool off-road tires.
