Golfers have long rented golf carts to make the trek from hole to hole less of a hassle. Many golfers are discovering that owning their own golf cart makes financial sense.
For golfers that live on or near their course, the carts may also be able to be used to get around the neighborhood, and in many cases the cart can be made street-legal. Most cities and/or states have rules about how to get a golf cart street-legal, so look those up before you buy.
Before buying a golf cart, decide what you will use it for. Then, go test-drive all the models and brands before deciding on one. Most of the brands make quality carts, so it is up to you to decide if gas is better then electric, if you want safety equipment, or if you will be driving it around the neighborhood. You should have no problem finding dealers near you for test-drives. Talking to other owners at the course can also give you a good idea of how the brands stack up.
Most new golf carts cost between $5,000 and $10,000. There are endless ways to customize your new cart, just make sure any changes are allowed if you want to drive on the street.
